In one of my previous posts about Bruce Lee, I spoke about what made him inspire me to take the road towards personal development and how he continues to drive me to become the best person I could be on a daily basis.
In this post, I’m going to list some of my favourite Bruce Lee quotes and explain how I interpret them with regards to self-confidence.
I recently downloaded a free Bruce Lee app for the iPhone which was developed and recommended to me by Benny Hsu and is what inspired me to write a post about it.
If you’re a Bruce Lee fan, i would definitely download the app as it not only lists some of his most popular quotes but also compiles videos and pictures of the famous martial artist and actor. Be sure to download his app from the Apple iTunes store.
Here are a few of my favourite Bruce Lee quotes…
To be bound by a traditional martial art style or styles is the way of the mindless, enslaved martial artist. But to be inspired by the traditional martial art and to achieve further heights is a way of genius.
When looking at life, it’s never a good idea to imitate others or to try and be someone that you’re not. To do that would mean denying who you really are, which would eventually convince you that you’re not valuable enough to the world. This would eventually scar your self-confidence and cause you to turn inwards on yourself rather than freely expressing who you truly are. Don’t be afraid to be different.
An intelligent mind is an inquiring mind. It is not satisfied with explanation, with conclusions. Nor is it a mind that believes, because belief is again another form of conclusion.
When looking to find answers to your problems, always keep yourself open to new ideas. It’s never a good idea to limit yourself as we’re often guilty of being set in our ways the older we become. The more open you are to new ideas, the more creative you’ll become at solving problems.
One will never get more than he thinks he can get. you have what it takes.
You are only limited to your own limiting beliefs. Yes, it will be hard to overcome them as fear is a natural reaction in all of us. But no explorer has ever discovered new lands without setting sail to unknown territory. Have faith that you’ll get to where you dream of going.
Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a hard one.
Life is hard for a reason; because we’re designed to value hard work and effort. Nothing we’ve ever valued came for free. With difficulty comes character, strength, humility and perseverance. If you wish to have more of it, wish for more of it.
Freedom discovers the man the moment he loses concern over what impression he is making or about to make.
The minute we break free from external validation is when we’ll be free to live our lives however we want. There will always be people who will doubt you; who will try to hold you back. But always remember, your life is meant to be lived on purpose.
Real living is living for others.
While it’s important to discover our purpose and to grow. It is rarely ever done in the expense of others. We get what we sow and are here to provide value and service to others. It is the key to happiness and living a life of true abundance.
